Our final destination......Seminyak, south Bali. We took a taxi from our hotel in Ubud straight to our hotel in Seminyak. It's the first time we have ever gone door to door whilst travelling and it felt good. We arrived in the afternoon so after checking in we went for a walk down to the beach to see what all the fuss was about. We were met by a huge empty beach with huge crashing waves....they were so big we decided it isn't a beach you swim at. We grabbed some lunch in a rather swanky beach front restaurant and then continued to wander.
The next morning we were greeted by torrential rain so we decided to have a browse around the shops, nipping into cafes occasionally to dodge the rain.
The next day we woke to rain again so we decided to go the waterpark, you'd be wet anyway what would the difference be!? The water park was pretty cool and had loads of slides. Unfortunately Kate grazed her knee on the first slide which wasn't a great start. The heavens truly opened at one point so we headed to the swimming pool to keep warm, just out luck they had a swim up bar in the pool, so we sat and enjoyed a couple of beers whilst the rain cleared. We loved the slides, macaroni was our favourite. The first time we went on it we went for a double ring where we could go down together. We noticed people were going down backwards which we thought was a bit odd, when it was our turn the guy asked us which way we wanted to go, we asked which was best and he said backwards an laughed. We had no idea what lay ahead. We were off down the slide going high around corners we didn't know were there and then into complete darkness. It was so windy and steep, we thought we were going to do a full loop going around the corners, it was a little scary but great fun!
We were advised to leave the Climax slide until last and we were glad we did!At the top you stand upright in a pod, the machine does a count down an the floor beneath you disappears. You fly down and then back up to do a loop and then finish. It was scary and bloody fast! It was a great day so we were thankful for the weather otherwise we may not have gone.
The next few days were spent by the pool. We tried the beach one day but didn't really like it as you couldn't swim in the sea. We went to Kuta one night to see if we were missing anything. Kuta is party town, a bit like Spain and Greece but full of Australians instead of Brits. Kuta was ok but a little trashy, we much preferred Seminyak.
Our second to last night we went to a place called Potato Head as it had been recommended to us by a few people. We went for sunset. We didn't know what to expect, there was a queue to get in, luckily we didn't have to wait long. The only table they had was pool side which had a 500,000 (£33) Rupiah minimum spend. We were only planning to go for one drink as we heard it was expensive but changed our mind. We were escorted in and this place was incredible! It had a semi circle building with tables and a bar, in front of this was a huge lawn then beyond this the had sofa beds right next to an infinity pool which looked out to the beach, it was beautiful! We were luckily to have a pool side table.
The cocktail menu was the best we'd seen even if they were £10 each. Kate indulged in some amazing tasting cocktails which were worth every penny. This was by far the best place we had been to in 9 months.
Our last few days were spent topping up our tans.
