Hi, Done so much since last blog. Sydney is great with so much to see. Ahead of schedule so also went to Melbourne which is generally accepted (and we both agree) to be a better city. It is very cosmopolitan - about 50% white, 25% asian and 25% chinese. A great place. Very laid back and there was a comedy event going on so every night you could go to the pub and watch good comedians - for no extra cost. Now in Byron Bay which is a great Surfers hangout. Loads of good waves and stoned locals. Flew from Cairns to Brisbane and had a couple more days there. Heavy drinking and saw a live NZ band called Shihad - quite big out here. Check them out on You Tube. Then to Surfers Paradise (as shown in the photo). Beaches are getting better down here and you can even go in the water without fear of death or injury.

Amazing day. We went to the rainforest and it rained, really really hard. We were on the beach in shorts and T-Shirts with no rain gear and got soaked. It was just like the scene at the end of Point Break where Patrick Swayze goes into the sea. The similarities are endless. See Pictures under Oz - Daintree.

7 days and 2000 km later and we are in Cairns. Hired a small car and travelled through Maryborough, Hervey Bay , Town of 1770 and Rockhampton, Mackay (for anyone who has been). First few nights were a bit worrying as everywhere we stopped, as per Lonely Planet Guide book was deserted. Wow, A hectic bit of travelling to get here. Left Ko Samui at 11:30am, 4 hour boat journey followed by 12 hour coach. Got to Bangkok at 5am and sat around until 11am for our flight to Singapore. Very late night out in Singapore (sleep is so over-rated) and then after a day looking round the city onto an early morning flight to Brisbane. Can hardly believe I am in Oz. Customs was funny.
