Wow,

A hectic bit of travelling to get here. Left Ko Samui at 11:30am, 4 hour boat journey followed by 12 hour coach. Got to Bangkok at 5am and sat around until 11am for our flight to Singapore. Very late night out in Singapore (sleep is so over-rated) and then after a day looking round the city onto an early morning flight to Brisbane. Can hardly believe I am in Oz. Customs was funny. 'Hi there mate. Got anything in there you shouldn't have mate'. Luckily no. They swear a lot as well. You can't go two minutes without someone using the f@#k word. Very friendly people though - extremely sociable so far. Biggest nightmare is how expensive it is. Tokyo is a bargain compared to here. Our hotel on the first night was 120 pounds (everything was full) but we are now in a hostel with communal facilities in which you get a small cell with a bed and a fan (will post photo soon). Very basic but still 20 pound a night. In pounds beer is about 3.50 a pint and a Mars Bar is about 1.50! Two more nights here and then probably going to hire a car and drive up to Cairns.
