We left Byron Bay and ended up passing Anouk and Sjoerd in the slow wicked van, all heading in the same direction, towards the Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise. The drive up there was awesome, and driving along the coast was really beautiful, especially when you can see Surfers Paradise across the bay. We stayed here for one night, in a really expensive caravan park. We walked into town, where we did a bit of window shopping and then spent the afternoon on the beach, it was so hot. The sea was pretty rough also, meaning the flags points you had to swim in between where close together. Rog loved it, I however got knocked over by every single wave just going in there, not very successful.
We spent the evening at the campsite, with Anouk and Sjoerd and Laura and Tom another couple we met from England. We had a wicked night, with lots of goon, and lots of laughs. We all felt like we were 16 again, especially when we got chucked out the campsite for being to noisy at 11pm, so we ended up on a bench just outside, cool!! We had a brilliant night, and really felt it in the morning. With Rog and I both suffering, we headed for the beach where we chilled out for the day. The beach at Surfers is gorgeous, with really white sand, and it is so hot.
In the afternoon we headed for Brisbane, and straight for a campsite. Surprise surprise, Anouk and Sjoerd were already there. We spent 2 nights here, and headed into town on both days. We did some window shopping on the first day, and headed down towards the river where we hopped on a boat, and got off at the really good lagoon, where we had lunch. We walked through markets and through a Chinese festival, it was really good. On the second day we walked to the Botanical gardens, where we saw a couple get married, it was really nice, until I got bitten on my bum by a massive ant. I felt as if my whole leg had been paralysed by it, it really was painful. We walked to the 50m open air swimming pool, and Rog got all excited when we stumbled across a road called Rogers road, we were there for a bout 10 minutes because he wanted a good pic next to the sign post- GEEK! Eventually getting to the swimming pool, and feeling rejuvenated from a bit of exercise, we walked back and caught the train to our car. We really enjoyed our time in Brisbane, a nice city.
