We left Sydney and headed inland to the Blue Mountains National Park. This was a short drive, and we eventually reached our first town, Leura. We went to Sublime point and Gordon falls reserve, where we did a very steep 2km trek to the waterfall at the bottom. The Blue Mountains were amazing, and very beautiful. It was a very impressive mountain range, and so vast. We stopped off at the many points along the way towards Katoomba which follows the cliff edge along the mountains. We saw Katoomba falls and last but certainly not least The Three sisters. This was amazing, Rog and I walked down to them, it was incredibly beautiful, albeit very steep. We stayed in a reaaly good campsite again, and had yet another BBQ- yummy!
The next day we drove to Lake Macquarie, where we spent the afternoon relaxing and sunbathing at our campsite- it was so nice. We saw a massive pelican sat on a lamp post, it was well weird. The lake was quite beautiful; Rog put his feet in, very cold.
We then went to Newcastle, where we spent the afternoon at Nobbys beach it was really nice here, with strange really squeaky white sand.
Mum went back to Sydney airport as flights back to the UK has resumed. Luckily she got a flight the next day and was put up in a nice hotel for the night. We were really sad to see her go again, and it felt odd her not being around.
Rog and I drove to Port Stephens in the evening, and stayed at a campsite there on the beach. We walked to the top of the hill at the end of the beach, which was actually quite hard in the heat. We were here for Anzac day so we just relaxed and didn’t do a great deal. The family next to us, gave us some home-made Anzac biscuits, we soon had an addiction to them.
The next day we drove to Coffs harbour, where we ended up spending 2 nights in a really nice campsite, with free wifi and seconds from the beach. We spent our first day on the beach, although it was extremely windy. We also met a really nice Dutch couple, Anouk and Sjoerd, we had a good laugh with them. We drove to Byron bay the next day, along some really spectacular coast line. We spent 2 nights here, the beach was really nice, but there wasn’t a great deal to do, also everybody thought they were a bit to cool for school, it had a really weird atmosphere. Rog hired a surf board and spent the day surfing, he is actually really getting the hang of it, and really enjoying it which is good. We went for a walk to the lighthouse, and got some amazing views across the bay.
