Well I have been transported to the colony by the English authority. I feel like a real Australian now. Yes, as mentioned in previous blogs I am in Australia to organise a visa to live in the UK.
I left Pippa and Katharine in Heathrow and boarded a flight to Singapore with Qantas. About 3 hours into the flight a woman collapsed a few rows ahead of me and I ended up offering to help the flight crew who appeared to be a bit concerned as she was not recovering quickly.
So now I have officially cannulated a person at 30,000 feet during a storm while bouncing around. A Radiologist was the only other health/medical person on board and we thought the lady was having a PE. At the time the nearest airport was Kabul in Afghanistan, which I am glad the pilot decided was too high risk to land at and we decided to keep the lady stable to Singapore.
She was fine but incredibly dehydrated so after a bag of fluid and much conversation with the medical back up team on the ground she was off loaded in Singapore to the paramedics.
I scored a couple of coupons to the Qantas lounge and a seat upgrade on my remaining Qantas leg of my trip. All I had to do was go without sleep and bedside nurse a sick lady while being squashed on the floor in front of her seat.
Singapore to Melbourne was boring, but very comfortable and Melbourne to Sydney was delayed. So nearly 40 hours after leaving Devon I was at my parents place in Gosford suffering the dreaded jetlag.......and it is not even sunny...I left England for more rain.
The sun came out and I went for a drive to The Entrance and watched the country music festival on the waterfront and had 'hot' chips and pineapple fritters.
I have organised somewhere to live in Canberra and will be heading there over this weekend. Also I hate Optus as they appear to be challenged by the new technology known as a SIM card and how to get one working in a phone.
