Quick blog as I am a day behind. But we traveled from Stockholm to Copenhagen today. Country number 8, and almost as many languages and currencies. The train trip was nothing really exciting. I spent most of it catching up this travel blog with Chris and Darryl's entries and pictures. We also stated putting our names at the bottom of each entry because we are having different experience and memories of places we may all have been.
The southern Swedish country side becomes flatter and flatter the closer we got to Denmark. We crossed the border by train from Malmö to Copenhagen over the bridge and into another country. At one point it looked like we may have had to leave the train in Malmö and go through customs as Sweden had closed its borders with Denmark because of the refugee crisis. But by the time we left for this trip all was fine.
We eventually made our way to the bus stop in Copenhagen station and caught a bus out to the Dan hostel in Vejlands Alle. The trip was through a very newly build area of Copenhagen so there was industry and new construction going on everywhere. Also I notice more litter and graffiti than any other city we had seen on this trip.
Sadly, my first impression of Copenhagen was a dirty industrial mess. Nothing compared to the beautiful historic cities we had been in for the last 3 weeks.
The hostel however was the best we have been in so far and we cooked a nice dinner and relaxed ready for my first bucket list activity. Kronborg Castle, home of Hamlet.
