Saturday 27th – The day after Australia Day!
Well I wanted to write loads and tell you all the good stuff I have done in this amazing Country, but I am sorry to disappoint, I haven’t really done anything! Well, no trips! Now that’s not to say I am unhappy with that. You know, sometimes you just need to chill and take stock of what you are doing and absorb the local culture! I sometimes still pinch myself to see if this is real or actually a dream!?! But yes, I am in Australia. . . Wow. . . So much to do and so little time. . . “Need to start planning Bobby”. . . .
So before I tell you about my amazing plans, I will just bring you up to speed with this weeks events. . . .
So following on from before I did go to the casino. . . . What a coolio place, I wouldn’t wanna stay there too long, but was fun for a night. I lost a lot of money but then got it all back and a little bit more on the roulette. I played a bit of Black Jack, Poker and stuff. . .
This week then has been a bit of a blurr. . . .
I moved in with the lovely Simone, one of Chrissie (and Benny’s) friends. She is coolio, a really nice, down to earth girl. . . . We get on like a house on fire, which helps when you are living with someone! She doesn’t work Monday’s and Tuesday’s, so being as I wasn’t still on top form I spent quite a bit of time with her. . . . We got her an iPod and she decided which music she was gonna steal off me, then I helped set up her wireless internet. . . . I can quote her. . .She said, I was the best lodger and she wanted me to stay longer. . . I have that way with women. . .hahaha, only kidding!
So later that week I ate with Simone at a very nice Malaysian place! Then ate with Chrissie on another night at a strange place, where there are no prices for the food. You bring you own drinks and give what you feel is right for the food! How cool?
Thursday night I met up with the gang I met on Saturday. Pete was having a BBQ and invited me over. . . . It was a very pleasant and chilled out evening and I met Josh for the first time (one of Benny’s closest friends. Had just been in the UK with Benny).
So after a reasonable consumption of alcoholic beverages, Pete, Josh and myself decided that we should hit the town. . . So the guys took me to a local place of Pete’s, but to be fair, it was a bit savage! So I convinced them to head back to St Kilda, and we did, back to Base Backpackers. . . What a laugh! We had more beers and stuff, had a boogie, chatted to some coolio people! It was a great laugh. When we got kicked out off there, we headed to the Vineyard, another local haunt of mine! And more booze was consumed. Josh was chatting some girls up after, so we all crashed out on the grass outside. . . . .And yeah yeah, you will like this one. . . It was the last time I saw my newly acquired mobile phone! Doh, stupid thing slipped out of my shorts pocket!
So anyway, needless to say it was a late night. . . .
Now then, so picture this, it’s Friday (Australia Day), one of the biggest bank holidays here, I have no phone and cannot contact anyone, nor can they get in touch with me! I have been invited to another all day party / BBQ with Benny’s good friends Cassie and Laura and I was stuck. . . I did however manage to leave a message for Cassie saying that I had lost my phone and that I would be down in St Kilda and to come and find me. . . .
So several hours later, I had a brain wave and used my laptop (Skype) to call Cassie. . . .They were down in St Kilda looking for me. . . Hooray! We met up and headed to the party!
Now then. . . .The Ozzy’s don’t half know how to party. . . Which is fine with me. . . . What a day. . . Obviously it was a little weird at first, I didn’t know anyone and people had only just started drinking. . . . But I was made to feel very welcome and had some good chats with a lot of people. . . The general theme is the same as you can imagine, where ya from, what ya doin, etc, etc. . . But still, it was nice!
People started relaxing more as the food was eaten and beers went down in the glorious sunshine! The party drinkin games started, which I was fortunate to miss for the first part as me and a few other jumped into the Hot Tub. . . hhhmmmmm. . . . . ! 2 Hours later, very shriveled up, I got out and had a shower. . . The host were so accommodating, lending me some swim shorts and a towel. . . I was having a great day. . . Then the evening set in, some more food and plenty more beers and shots! They had 3 Whiskey optics on the wall outside and I was invited to bend over backwards and drink a shot straight from the optic. . . Well I have never been seen to say no to a Jameson’s! As you can imagine, it got somewhat messy we lot’s of dancing, a couple of guy doing some male bonding play fights (although it did seem a little aggressive – I have never punched a mate in the face while play fighting, but hey, they seemed happy with it all. Covered in mud and stuff!).
I was challenged to do all 3 optics, one after the other (it was getting quite late) and not wanting to let the side down (Benny) I took the challenge. . . . It was very hyped up and I went for it. The first was a dream, the second was a little crazy, as the optic was quite slow, but I managed it no problem and I saved my favorite til last. . . Mr Jameson’s went down a treat. . . 3 in a row, a round of applause and whistles, etc, I had laid the Gauntlet. . ! You will be pleased to know that no one could do it. One guy manage two and a half, well two really, I think the half went in his ear. . . ! And another guy, well, I think he got one and on the second, went a funny colour and headed off round the house to feed to Possums. . . ! Very funny and totally childish I know!
So yeah, Happy Australia Day. . . . !
The day after the night before, I am feeling pretty cool. . . I crashed out again and fell asleep for another couple of hours after I had been dropped off in the morning! I went into Melbourne and bought a new mobile. . . And I am now sat in a bar on the South Gate of the Yarra river having a beer a writing this!
So I suppose all there is to add is my plans for Australia. . . Well it is all booked. . . I am several thousand pounds lighter, but have a huge smile on my face. . . .
So, where do I start. . . . I know, I’ll tell you in the next update!
