Hey all. Latest development is that I've quit my job! Only did it for a week, but I wasn't getting paid well enough! Was out from 7.30 - 6.00 each day, but only getting paid for 6 hours work! Since backpakers have to pay 29% tax, I need to be working more than 30 hours a week, and that last job wasn't giving me chance to do any evening shifts, or even go looking for other jobs! Went to see an Oz-NZ one day cricket match yesterday, looked like Oz were going to win easily but then NZ came back in the last few overs. Absolutely amazing game, saw an unbelievable catch, and probably didn't make any friends by cheering for NZ and saying that England will win the Ashes next year...

Hey all. As my mum's message suggests, I'm currently working as a fire extinguisher sales and servicer! I go into high street businiesses (shops, offices, etc) and make sure that they have the correct fire extinguisher for that kind of place, that it is in the right location and that it is being serviced regularly! Actually quite a fun job, even though it is pretty much door-to-door sales. Because it's about fire safety, people aren't quite as rude as they are to other salesman (most of the time...). Anyway, it's getting me some money for now, though I'm looking for something with better pay. I've done a night of catering work, which was actually quite fun. Everyone laughed because I spent the whole night singing along to the soul band that was playing...

Well Founders Day is over. Lots of music and all a bit scary conducting in front of so many people but it seemed to go OK They sang an anthem I wrote many years ago. Now it's Christmas music! We had a spot OFSTED inspection today...what a nightmare that was. We knew that someone might come this term but had had no warning that it was today...more on Wednesday. Your new job sounds interesting. Selling fire extinguishers is one thing but servicing them as well!......I feel that this could be a career move!
Hope all is going well. Speak soon L.Y.L. xxxx

I've put some more photos on, some more from South Australia and then some in Victoria, so take a look. Frankie, cool to hear from you. Sainsbury's sounds like fun... I'll pass on the chicken for now, but if you're still there in a year then Ill be sure to let you know!
Frankie
I've just started work at Sainsburys's. Do you want a cheap chicken sent second class post? You get more money and if I work there for a year I get 10% off my shopping. They're a right tight lot! But I'm having fun.

Hey all. Just a quick message to say all is well, in Melbourne job hunting. I won the hostel pool competition yesterday, which I'm quite chuffed about. Prize was a $40 bar tab. It's a weekly thing, so I have every intention of trying to retain the title next week...

Dobin. Have managed to complete dissertation and handing in on Monday all being well. We've bought Sky Sports to watch the anhilation of South Africa today and, more importantly, Australia next week. Off to fish restuarant this evening - so that'll be fun given James hates fish. A busy few weeks ahead with Christmas stuff and Charlie's birthday to celebrate. Another year older, but no wiser. Won't keep you too long in case you are paying per word for messages...speak soon. Jimes and ckarlie

Just got back from a busy Art Day at school. One of the things we have been drawing has been animals from other countries--such as kangeroos. koalas etc. The art teacher was telling them that they would probably never see them in real life, but I said my son has been able to see them for real as he is hopping about all over Oz. Hope your coach journey has not been too hot and uncomfortable and that you have arrived safely in Melbourne. Speak soon, love Mum.
Latest news from John: Hi Robin, just to let you know that Shrewsbury Town have a new manager. Jimmy Quinn resigned last month after a string of defeats which left Town struggling at the bottom of League 2. On Saturday they were beaten 2-1 in the FA Cup by non-leaguers Histon, (from Cambridgeshire). Now they've just announced the appointment of former Preston boss Gary Peters as their new manager. So some good news for the Shrews. But it's looking grim at Wrexham. The club is about to go into administration -- losing ten points in the League table. It seems it's the only way to save the club from a winding up order by the Inland Revenue which is owed nearly a million pounds in unpaid tax. It's a real shame, because they've been doing quite well this season and it would be a tragedy if they went into liquidation. Have a great time in Melbourne. cheers, john.

Quick message to say I've put some more photos up on the website. A few more in the Western Australia section, and then some from the Northern Territory and South Australia.

Hey there dude, finally I've got on the internet, wrote email before checking out website (duh),so this is really a big PS. Ayres Rock sounds amazing! Sounds like you're having a fab time. And photos from Zoo are totally adorable, very disappointed you couldn't smuggle me a koala back to Leeds. Not that I need any more illegal animals in my house - we're having an inspection on Thursday, and I have *no* idea what to do with the rats!! Might have to take them to work as a last resort... that'll go down well at the bank... :) Anywho, must be off, keep havin' fun.
Phil :)

PS. Random coincidence of the day: Adam has a cat called Bobby too! And his landlord lets them have pets! So unfair! xx

Hey everybody. Just got back from an incredible 5-day safari aroud Ayres Rock. I've written a 'postcard' about it, so have a look. Also, I've bought a didgeridoo! It's so cool, just need to learn to play properly now. Still haven't mastered circular breathing though. Hope you are all well, I'm off on a three day tour to Adelaide tomorrow, so heading south towards the bigger cities. Probably be in Melbourne within a couple of weeks. Anne, great to get the message, I'm afraid I lost you email address so it'd be great to hear from you (or anyone who has Anne's (Delazun) email, could you send it to me? Cheers.
