So since we last blogged in BA we´ve hit up Bariloche, Mendoza, Cordoba, Tucuman, Tafi del Valle, anf Cafayate.
Firstly, Bariloche: This place was amazing, we stayed 6 nights, and frankly could have stayed way longer. The hostel we got was the highest building in town, and had a sweet view of the lake and mountains from both our room and the balcony, and the sunset was cool too. The hostel was really cool as the cooking area and facilites were huge, and the place was great to chill out and drink or play chess or whatever. Some great walks to do in the area too, and me and amanda did a horse trek here too which was really cool as i got to gallop for the first time ever on a horse - such a fantastic feeling to feel at one with my horse, and be a true gaucho (i wish).
After leaving Bariloche we headed to mendoza where we stayed for 4 nights. While Chris went rafting, me and amanda went to the zoo, which was very disappointing as some of the animals were overweight, clearly unhappy, and in cages which were way to small. One of the highlights in mendoza for me, was the hostel´s owner, Gustavo, cooking me and chris a fantatsic asado, which was quite frankly the best beef i´ve had not only in argentina, but in life - big statement. on our last day we did a trip to the high mountains, a got to glimpse at some cool places, one of which being Mt. Aconcagua - the biggest mountain outside of the Himalayas!!
Following this was Cordoba, where we didnt really do much, except chill out at the hostel alot, as they had pool and ping pong and a nice roof deck to soak up the sun.
Then on to tucuman, where we only stayed 2 nights, and attempted to find a waterfall and failed, as it takes an eight hour walk with a guide, so instead we just found a nice lake and had a mooch about.
Following Tucuman, we veered off the main tourist trail for a night, staying ina little town called Tafi del Valle. This place was cool and the hostel was good to relax, though we only stayed the one night. Really nice valleys and though there was much cloud, the views were still sweet.
Finally - Cafayate! This place was cool, and probably really comes to life in Argentina´s summer. Here we did two tours, and in no way regret either. The first was the Quebrada de Cafayate and involved us driving to see some epic rock formations with great colours etc. The trip was really good, and a great price too. One our last day though (today) we did an epic trip. We went quadbiking into the mountains and got some great views, and then after a speedy session on dirt tracks back to the main road, we then drove through a river bed and woods etc which was totally epic. Although Chris fell off his quad on a hill, and we also saw a dead dog hung in the woods, which was quite horrible but in no way ruined the trip. When we got back, we were so filthy its unreal, really panda-eyed, and our clothes were so dirty. Time for a bus to Salta for 6 nights-ish!
So far we are loving Argentina, some places more than others, but as a whole the place is great. Such a variety of things to see and though the bus journeys are mega long, the views are a great kicker! Still got loads to see!!
