Rob and shelley on tour
hiya
Wow what a day we had today. After recovering fully from the Barrier Reef trip! (see earlier postcard), we decided to have a day at the croc park. Rob has being dying to get up close and personal to the beasts so was delighted to be going.
We arrived in time for the morning feed, we saw the salt water crocs and fresh water crocs getting fed and were gob smacked by how sneaky and caniving the salt water onces were, they are so territorial and actually whack each others snout all the time. It was funny cos it was explained to us that some male crocs can't be doing with women and so they just eat them! nice. Others male crocs put Peter Stringfellow to shame and have a lake with just them and their preferred women and seem happy enough.
We then went to see the big croc getting fed. He is so big and territorial that he has to be on his own (with his woman), he was the biggest thing We've seen and was nasty too. The way he just lurked in the water was scary and it makes you realise that you wouldnt actually stand a chance with the teeth on them.
We then headed off on a guided tour boat around the park (see picture to right) and then had a look at the crocidile farm. The farm was a little sad cos its were they farm the crocs to be sold for croc burgers and skin. I was disgusted and even more so when I got the NOW magazine and spotted Posh spice wearing a pair of croc sunglasses made by D&G, do one!! Won't be buying her next CD!!
We then watched a croc attack show where a Steve Irwin wannabe demonstrates the deadly croc role and head shake, this was scary especially as he was wandering round with no shoes on and seemed to be getting so carrried away with his show that he kept forgetting where the croc was, it was like "he's behind you". Once my nerves calmed down, I was alright.
We saw a snake show which taught us what to do in an emmergency (good for our trip to the outback) and saw some more koalas.
Great day and something different. We are heading to Alice Springs next and will be doing an outback tour of Kings Canyon, Valley of the winds and Ayres Rock (Uluru)
Will speak soon
Love
Shelley and Rob
