Rob and shelley on tour
hiya all
We have made it to the outback!! We have gone with a company called outback adventures and paid a little extra to have toilets and showers oh how glad I am about that now...
We went to kings canyon, valley of the winds and ayres rock (the photo is us at Ayres Rock just before sunset). The weather was hot hot hot and at least 110 on each day, they decided to do all the walks at about 2.30pm which is smack bang in the middle of the hottest part of the day. The first walk was bad cos it was uphill and was really strenuous, its actaully called heart attack hill. We arrived back in the campsite and were so greatful for the showers, they were fab, the camp was great and we had a barbie tea and all sat round the camp fire.
Day 2 was much more successful as, though the weather was still really hot, it wasnt as humid and so you could breathe! The walk was lovely and we did 9kms which is about 6 miles. Again we headed back to the camp late on for a barbie and campfire, on this night we all slept in swags (see photos on the site) which is like a sleeping bag that you sleep in outdoors, you put the sleeping back inside and then wrap the zips around you. I was a bit scared cos the bloke told us all that if we see a dingo in the night, to shout shuuuu to it really loud and it will run off, well you can imagine my face I was nearly running for the hills.
The last day was sunrise at the rock at 5am! and then a 3 hour walk around the base!! We were both completely knackered and fell back into the bus. We then headed to the cultural centre for an hour where we spent the entire time in the cafe drinking sweet tea! so we dont actually know anything. We then headed back to Alice Springs and got back about 6pm. We had a night out in the backpacker bar and fell to bed about 11.30pm.
We had a great time and are now chilling today before we go to Broome on the West Coast tomorrow (30th October)
Will speak to you all again soon
Loads luv
