We left Mackay on Wed 28th heading south. The weather was showery so we decided to make it a long driving day.We had been warned that Rockhampton was similar to Mackay in that most of the accommodation was taken up by mines and their employees, so went to a little coastal town called Yeppoon. We called into the information bureau and collected lots of literature, only to discover all the 'What's on' section covered 2007, they must have got well excited when 4 pommies came in helping to recycle all the old literature!!The sky was still cloudy as we checked into an apartment for two nights. We went off for a trip to town to get food, then went to Rosslyn Harbour just in time for some sunset shots, as the clouds finally parted.Next day the clouds were thicker than ever, the wind had got up the locals were very confused (its not too hard to confuse Australians), as this weather is not normal. The boys decided to buy some bait and try their luck fishing on Causeway Lake just along the coast from our accommodation. The store had some little rods on sale, which came in two and would therefore fit in the rod holdall so Rob bought one for me - well if you can't beat them….I was a bit too enthusiastic, and wound my reel in every time I felt a 'knock', for some reason there was never anything on the end of my line - Rob thought it was because I was impatient!Otherwise I left it so long the fish/crabs etc just ate all my bait.Maybe I'll never make a good fisherman.Rob had the first catch, he had previously lost a couple of hooks and was a bit dumbfounded, however when he pulled his catch in and discovered a puffer fish, it continued to chew right through his line.Falling to the floor it huffed and puffed and blew itself up, the boys were waiting for it to explode! After the fishing session we drove on down the coast to Emu Park, a tiny place on the coast, but we stumbled upon 'The Singing Ship', this is a monument to Capt James Cook who discovered all this coast line in May 1770.It is a white Monument positioned on a hill over looking the bay and has a row of hollow tubes that catch the wind and 'sing'.
