Our hostel in KL is called Pujangga Homestay and is a very welcome upgrade from the shack we stayed in at Taman Negara! With Wi-Fi and a movie lounge we felt spoilt!
Once again on our day of arrival, we just manage to venture outside and have a short walk around, find some food, watch a film (!) then off to bed! Next day we wake up just in time to catch our free brekkie by midday.
We're getting used to walking everywhere so we spent the whole day walking around Kuala Lumpur, seeing the sights, doing everything thats free, including the central market, chinatown and the KL tower (didn't go up as it was too cloudy - and it wasn't free!!). It seems that everything is within reasonable walking distance and now i'm beginning to realise that all this walking is actually getting us fitter! The market was quite good and chinatown reminded us of Phuket with all the pestering street sellers!
Went to the magnificent petronas towers tonight and they are very impressive indeed. Incredibly well lit-up as you can see from our pics and the visual highlight of KL. Decided we'd earnt a ourselves a treat tonight after all the money we've saved in S.E. Asia, so, after visiting the Petronas towers, we stayed around that posh area and found an expensive restaurant that served up a beautiful N.Z. steak for me and Sams favourite chicken and chips. All this totalled a massive 105 RM - our most expensive meal to date at about £15. This was very expensive by Malaysia's standards considering we have been eating for around 10 RM each so far.
As the petronas towers was free to enter and go up to the skybridge, that was first on the agenda for the next day. We had to be there by 8.30am to queue for the limited tickets. This was certainly worth doing as the views were impressive as was the tower itself. The expensive mall around the foot of the towers was, lets say, expensive!! A real posh mall. Nothing was affordable!
KL impressed us. There was quite a bit to see and do and, had the sun been out a bit more, we could've done quite a bit more too. That didn't stop it being hot though as we edge closer to the equator!
