During my first day in Uganda I went white water rafting in Jinja with Nile River Explorers on which is the source and start of the nile. The drive took an hour from Kampala and when there we had a debreif and paid our $125 for the day rafting.
After breakfast we headed out on to the water and I was with 4 candians in my boat. They had never been white water rafting before and this was my 3rd time. The rapids were pretty good, there was 4 grade 5 rapids and a number of grade 4s and 3s. Our boat flipped a couple of times but that is the only time I feel out although some of the guys fell out, some times it all depends as to where you are sitting on the boat as to the luck of the draw.
One of the rapids was a grade 6 which we couldnt go down so we had to walk around it and then go down the grade 5 behind it called the bad place which was pretty good. During some of the periods of rafting we had to paddle soem distances the furest being 6km but this was at a lesirue place but got a bit tough because of the heat outside and I got quite burnt on the legs.
After rafting we had a nice barbie and then overlooked the nile as we sat eating our food, all in all a good day, although not quite as good as the rafting on the Zambezi.
