In 1999 I took my first visit to Africa on holiday to Tunisia with my girlfriend at the time.
We flew from Bristol to Tunis where we would be staying. We were staying in a hotel near the beach in a typically touristy part of Tunis. We did a few trips out and about of the hotel to local villages and deserts which was quite interesting but very touristy at the same time. I also managed to ride a camel for the first time which was not as hard as it looks.
Tunisia was my first experience of the mad driving that happens on this continent and I remember being in a taxi thinking that I would die with all the crazy drivers on the road. One thing I will say about Africa is that they might drive crazy but you see very few accidents because of the poor roads or congestion on the road there is very little opportunities for people to build up speed here compared to western countries with big motorways.
