From Jakarta was able to checkin for connecting flight from Kuala Lumpur to Siem Reap-Cambodia. Flight was uneventful but the 4.5 hour stopover in KL was painful but mainly dozed. On arrival through customs we were met by our guide and driver and transferred to out hotel. The hotel Angkor Sayana Hotel and Spa ( http://www.angkorsayana.com) was located right beside the river and just a short walk to the city. It was a very quiet time in Cambodia being the wet season and we were luckily upgraded to a larger room. After short rest and bathroom break we headed into town to explore and check out the shopping and maybe find a bar. The city area has about 6 different markets with all tourist items available. we also found "Pub Street". although I warned him Tony found out that the local currency is not very popular with the USD widely accepted and prefered as long as it is a new crisp note (think this is to reduce chace of forgeries - but not entirely sure). ie $1USD = $4000 ish Cambodian Riel. We shared a Cambodia BBQ which was delicucous and very filling with a couple of beers of course. After a couple more drinks including a bucket glass of gin & tonic we wandered back to the hotel as we had an early start the next morning.
