So today we woke up at 4:00am so that we could see the sunrise of the temple of Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world. We grabbed a tuk tuk to the site across the bridge from the temple. The place is colossal. We then visited the Bayon a temple that is in the stages of being reclaimed by the forest. It has trees growing all over it slowly breaking it apart. Most people will recognize this temple from the film Tomb Raider. We then proceeded through many other temples and buildings that had the same architectural style as I had seen in the jungle book (childhood favorite film). After we had our fill of monuments we travelled back to the hotel for a power nap so that we would be ready go out for a drink and some local cuisine, sounds strange but the Thai curry in Cambodia may be better than the stuff i had in thailand?! it was soo nice. as the night developed one drink can turn into a few and once the restaurant we visited gave us a free meal and round of beers we were happy to stay a little longer. The whole scenario of going out in Cambodia was so different to anything in England but so fun! We then made our way to the temple club, keeping the temple theme running for the day and for the first time relaxed a bit as we knew we could have a lie in in the morning before our next stage of our travel.
