Lima is, in many ways, similar to London albeit the Peruvian capital is set on the pacific coast. Many people have had unsavoury things to say about Lima but I think its a fairly good city. In parts it is a complete hole but London is not judged solely on Peckham, Brixton etc so Lima should not just be judged because of its horrific slums and slightly downmarket city centre. I have been staying in a suburb called Miraflores. Its a rich patch of land on the clifftop. Its almost a city in its own right. I met up with Ken just before last weekend and we embarked on a few drinking sessions and a self navigated city tour. Lima has quite a good nightlife, especially on Saturday nights in the district of Barranco. So, I have come to the end of a wonderful six months down here in South America. I have had some fantastic experiences and hold treasured memories which will always bring a smile to my face in times of thought. I will be back and that is a personal guarantee! Tonight I am flying through the night to Madrid for a 5 night stopover in the Spanish capital.
