Living The Dream
Hello people,
Having arrived at Iguazu Falls on Thursday morning, I decided to stay on the Brazilian side as the hostel I am staying in was recommended to me by the Danish boys who had already visited.
I spent most of Thursday updating my journal so people would stop moaning at me on the message board! On Thursday evening I noticed a game of football was about to start on the pitch at our hostel. 4 beers and two Caipirinha's down, I ambled over to a guy who turned out to be the best footballer I have ever played against - Diego from Argentina. It turned out that some Argies had come over the border to play the Brazilians. My new Argentinian friend took one look at my replica England jersey and announced that I would be playing for Brazil! I was marshalled around by a Fernando Hierro type who would complain at every slip up I made but be all to happy to run it all the way himself only to be rumbled by the Argies every time - Tosser! We lost 6-5 but I won't take any blame because Brazilians just can't defend!
On Friday I went to the Argentinian side of the falls and slogged out a 12 mile hike! Our bus driver was an ebullient Paraguayan who, at every opportunity, would suggest to me that Paraguay were going to beat England 4-1 in the World Cup. Naturally I laughed this off! He spent most of the journey to Argentina waving his Boca Juniors flag at every local person on the sidewalk! He even waved it at the police who blew whitsles and frantically waved at him to grab hold of the wheel and steer on! See photo album for a picture of this nutter!
