Living The Dream
Hello everyone,
I have been keeping quiet about my reasons for being back in Buenos Aires again but I guess that now is a good time to tell you all the real reason why I am back in the Argentine capital.
Yes, as you can see from the photo, I have signed to play for River Plate in the Argentine league. After a couple of weeks of negotiations with the British Embassy, I have been granted a conditional work permit which has allowed me to sign professional terms.
I was unveiled in front of a packed press conference at El Monumental on Tuesday lunchtime. I think it was more disbelief than anything else! When I make my debut, I will be the first Englishman ever to play in Argentina. I will spend the next few months working with the reserve team but hopefully I will break into the first team squad before the new season gets underway.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the players and staff of Farnham Town Football Club and Aldershot Casuals who have helped me develop as a player over the last few years.
Its like a dream come true for me. I never thought that I would make it in the professional game but now I finally have my chance. I will spend the next few weeks looking for a flat in the city and working on my fitness ahead of the new season.
If anyone would like confirmation on the legitimacy of this unbeleivable story, please visit the clubs official website www.cariverplate.com/ar - look at the squad list section.
I hope nobody back home is angry with me for keeping this from you but I needed to get the pen on the paper before I rushed ahead and told everyone.
