Rich and Martha's travels
We arrived back in Auckland late afternoon on thursday where we just got some warmer clothes and ate dinner as we left early friday morning to catch our bus heading south. Our first stop is Rotorua, which is a town full of geysers and maori history. It is full of geothermal activity and stinks of sulphur, not that nice for the tourists !! While we've been here we've been to a Maori vilage where we saw how the Maori people live, where they came from and what legends they believe in. We also ate a "hangi" whihc is a traditional Maori meal whihc is cooked underground, it was amazing. The show and history was so interesting to see and we all learned a bit about Maori culture.
We stayed for one more day just looking around the town and we also did some luge riding which involves going very fast down a hilly track on what amounts to a plastic tray!! It did have brakes which made it slighty safer but it was good fun.
From Rotorua we go to Taupo which is a fun filled adventure place lots of bungy's, skydiving etc. Will fill you in if we make it out alive !!
