CAMERON HIGHLANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (the other ones tamen negara!!!)
ooookkk so theres loads bin done and you have probably guest that weve got board of sitting down and writing these out already but hey its gotta be done to keep all you parents happy lol..... so the cameron highlands... one of our favourite places which showed with what turned out to be a week long stay! which i think was our longest in south east asia.... and once again lonley planet came threw for us and got us some great accomodation... cost 50 rm for the first two nights and then 40 after that as the owner couldn't rember how much he charged us and we managed to haggle him down!.. was a shared bathroom but was all clean so we was happy enough. after being in the hostel for bout 5 minutes we met a group of people travling threw on a package tour. first time on our trip that me an dani had a proper chance to sit down and chat to some people from home and what legends they where... spent a little bit to much in the puib but was worth every penny, and will defo be meeting back up with them in good old oz!!! so anyways back to the place... as i said we loved it and i would imagine that dermo and toniwoniwoo would love it too as there is miles an miles of different walking trails you can go on... some we found out maybe are in need of a little rebuilding and was defo a bit of a dodgy expieirence buit hey were still here to tell the tale. they do advise you dont do the walks in the rain but me an dani being us decided that a little bit of rain wasn't gouing to stop us.... especially when we got to walk around in our mega cool rainmacks!!! but the thing with trecking in a rainforest is there is never just a little bit of rain... pretty much just hammers it down... so off we went threw the rainforest trying not to fall... the night pathed path turned into just a muddy one after bout a mile and this made life hard as there was a drop into the forest on our right but we just took it slow an steady ( no need to worry angie pange) but obcourse just to make things more intresting after bout 2hrs of treking we got the real challenges.... like dips in the path and fallen trees! there was one bit where there must have been at leastr for trees fallen that we had to climb over! but as i say were still here and its all s***s an giggles till someone looses an eye.... but this wasn't the end of that days adventure.. as for the last 2 hours we had bin walking down hill we had to somehow get back up again, and neither of us were prepared to reclimb the perills of route 9a!! and this is when we found out the snaking road back up to the town we was staying in was and even longer walk... we was told this by our new found friend... a local maylasian who was telling us ure not aloud to be white and that we should only ever wash in cold water as hot water is bad for you!! he also told us how he got badly beaten up when he was younger which explained the fact he could hardley walk and that he had hardly any teath! so he done what any man would do in his position... he sat on a bench swatting flies and putting them into a bottle which he then feeds to his fish!!.... hmmmmm nice!!! so that was the end of that adventure!!! now ontot the next... the cameron highlands are famous for two things... strawberries ... which they make fantastic pancakes to go with and tea... so we decided we had to go to one of the tea plantations to sea what all the fuss was about... and in true backpacker style we decided to mae our own way there instead of getting a package tour... so the local bus was the way forwardand fairley easy to work out what went there and soon enough we was at the closest stop to the 'boh' tea plantation..... the path that lead to the tea plantaion was bout 2.5km but was a really nice walk on a ovley day and the mountains surrounding us where covered in these little green bushes that me and dani later found out was the tea bushes... but we were like why dont thy stop waysting there time on the tea and harvest this stuff as its everywhere!!... shame!! the tea plantation itself was pretty much just a cafe but a very nice one at that... we bought a pot of 'boh vannilla tea' and some home made choc cookies and sat out on the balcony that looked over the plantation and the surrounding mountains... very nice.... once we left and walked back along the trail to the main road we thought our adventure for that day was pretty much over but oh how wrong we were... the bus was knowhere in sight and they dont have any official bus stop... as there is only the one road that goes betweent he villages you just pretty much stand anywhere and flag it down when you see it... we was told by a local thta one had just gone past so would have a wait for the next one... and we spotted a butterfly farm up ahead and thought why not to kill some time... was 5rm entry so bout 65p and worth every penny... first thing we noticed was obviously th butterflies some flying round and some we thought where fake but turned out to be very real!! but inside there was loads of other things in cages too... lizards... snakes... spiders... stick insects..... then some animals we found very funny... rabbits... hamsters... guinipigs .... common for us but not for them.... soon after wondering around we bumped into one of the workers who was very keane to show us around and tell us about everything... but his tour was a much more hands on one... firstly he opened the cage to the stick insects and lead us inside... within seconds dani had one wacked on her top... the smirk was quickly wiped from my face when he put one on me aswel... and there was no warning ... no im going to put this on you but its fyne... no this wont hurt you its safe... just slaps it on you withought saying anything!!! useing my head thow i stood behind dani so he aways put the bugs on her first so i know what i was gettin maself into... see not just a pretty face!! lol... so after the stick insects we done giant grasshoppers.. lizards.. and these really cool leaf insects that actually look like a leaf!! and then he lead us down to the scorpion pit.... now i wasn't having any of that so i stayed well back but despite dani saying i really dnt want that on me he managed to convince her to sit down next to him... he pulled one fromt he pit with a hook and just left it ont he side with its sting pointing at him for a while and we just figured dani was sitting there to get a better look... but noooo how wrong was we... true to form without warning he wacked it on dannis shoulder.. this time saying it wont hurt you but i wasn;t convinced lol and by the look on danis face neither was she..... but did make a great picture.... after this we walked over to the tarantualar which very nearley made me s*** myself but was releaved to find out that he was scared of them too so he wouldn't get me out!! which made me think if there is a nutter who plays with scorpions and all these other insects all day everyday and he wont touch a spider theres gotta be sommin not right about them... there man eaters i tell ya!! so anyway that was my fear out the way but danis was still yet to come... unfortunatley for her he had no fear of snakes and they had a fair few of them... i stepped in front to hold one and he put it on my hand and it curled round my arm... an dani informed him she was scared of snakes... which im sure he understood but didn't stop him grapping another one and looping it round danis neck!!! he did eventually remove it when it turned round to face dani and you could see she was no longer finding it funny.... we finished off just chatting to the guy before his boss came down to tell him to get on with his work... but one of the thigns he told us was how much he earned...24 rm a day ... 7 to the pound... so just over 3 quid a day... shocking!! sooon id say thats the major stories to tell you from cameron highlands now all is left is the food..... amazing.... there is alot of curry places up there and it is home to the place where we had the best curry of our lives.... was incredible... liked it so much so i went the next day for the same.... other thing there good at up there is a thing called a steam boat... basically like a fondoo but you cook your food in chicken soup.... get given a massive plate of food to cook and left to crack on... at first me an dani didn't have a clue what to do but we just qwatched a fe other people and you soon get the idea... was some really nice stuff to cook and also some really messed up stuff... had nice chicked beef fish but also had these other wierd fish things what i dont know and probley dont want to know what they were... and jelly fish.. it looks like a jelly fish and taystes as bad as you would expect it to tayste.... but overall was a quality meal.. very messy but good fun.. i think thats everthing apart from to say if you every go make sure you have a cup of tea and some strawberry pancakes.. very yummy lol well thats me over and out... byeeeeee
