so here we are again back in the internet cafe an decided it was about time that wee updated you again on some of our travels... an what fun weve bin having!! so we decided to head to port dickeson from K.L on the advie of the security man working in the hostel telling us that it was malyasia version of brighton withought the s***ty beach! me an dani were both sold on the idea after thumbing threw a book looking at the pretty pictures withought even considering they were probably taken at least ten years ago and not in the monsoon season so port d*** on was looking its best! as before me an dani had paid way over the odds for travel expenses we decided to do it the maylasian way and take the public bus all the way.... and what a machine it was!! no expence spared and the nice driver even decided to amuse the locals by not waiting for us to sit down before he pulled away so we stumbled to the back like we was wearing big sumo suits!!! but the travel was cheap... took about 4 hrs ... 2 buses... and cost a grand total of 14 ringit or to you and me 2 quid!!! for the both of that is.... so a pound each.. brilliant!! when we eventually arrived and had our team talk on the bus about how we was going to look round ourselfs and not get in with a taxi man who would take us somewhere silly!... so we jumped off and saw a taxi man wearing a man united hat and had a really old car... we couldn't help ourself and surprisingly he told us that he new a great place not all that far away!! so we started our journey with the taxi man to god knows where but we knew it was costing us 15 ringit ( more than it cost to get there) he told us all about how he used to be this big important man in a factory and this an that happened so now hes a taxi man an very bitter about it.. they love telling us there sob stories but it does take ure mind of the fact ure driving a million miles away from the centre... the first place we turned up he decided to show us the beach first.. and how glad we are he did.... it turned out the security man in kl was lieing and the beach was exactly like that at brighton!! the sea was mirky.. there wasn't pebbles but it was a nasty gritty sand... definatley wasn't the wow factor we saw in the pics in the security man books... we decided against this when our man united taxi man said he knew another place with a pool.. we got back in the car an drove back for about 10 minutes and pulled up outside a half decent looking hotel where we met the taxi mans mate. the security guard at the hotel lifted the barrier an both cars drove threw and right to the far end of the car park... me an dani both asking why we was heading away from the hotel entrance to find out it was his mates apartment he let out... we took a quick look in an hated it lol the place had a nasty smell was dark an horrible.. an he wanted 100rm (ringgit maylasia) which we would be willing to pay if it was nice! so we told the taxi man just to take us mback to where we started in town... but he insisted on making one last ditch attempt of finding the place of our dreams... we headed a bit further along the road back towards town and he pulled into a really swanky looking resort.... steps leading down the the front desk with water cascading down in little streams either side... definatley not the place we fitted in... an as we expected it was way out of our price range 248rm... i think the taxi man was trying to make his friends apartment look cheap and half expected us to beg him to take us back but we didn't.... after about 2 hours we arrived back where we started tiered a bit fed up an 15 rm down and set off walking round the town... unfortunatley when ure carrying 20+ kilo on ure back you can only last so long so we ended up walking into the first an only hotel we could see... 5 minute an 148rm later we was in our room... we had a view of the pool and the gritty beach the t.v had about 30 fuzzy channels not one in english and a peice of plastice attached to the plug in the bath!! was not impressed but as it was just for the one night we bit our toungues and the bed was really comfy and at that moment in me that was all i really wanted... that night we had a really cheap dinner in the local cafe trying to compensate for the fortune we spent on the room and was pleasently surprised with the great grub.... also talking about food the hotel did come with a buffet brekkie.. so the following morning we got out of bed as early as we could be arsed and successfully stuffed as much food into our mouths as we could handle... and that pretty much sums up the port d*** on adventure... looking back now it was pretty much just like the secruity guard in k.l decribed ... brighton !! but when you put brighton in maylasia it becomes peckham!!! anyways thats me done have fun in sunny dunny byeeeee
