Well its a very long time since we kept u all updated on our travels.....so now its time to tell you all about tamen negara......
Tamen Negara was the next stop after the Cameron Highlands.....we were very excited about this destionation as it looked very beautiful and it had the oldest jungle in the world!!!!!! So after a week in the cameron highlands and our bodys filled with plenty of tea..we decided that it was time to move on. We booked our transport through the hotel and managed to get the hotel manager to drop it down to 80rm per person, which wasnt to bad. The only way to reach Tamen Negara was by Mini bus as the roads connecting the two places are like winding roads you get in spain when your going around mountains. The drivers in malaysia arent that much better either......actually ild say there were CRAZY!!!! we are lucky to be alive!!!! they swing around the corners and taking over cars like schumacher!!!!! Before we were aloud in the National Park ( thats what tamen negara is) we had to get a photo licence and a visa for our stay there. This is only because its a protected park. Once all that was sorted we were dropped off at some accomodation however as we were budgeting we asked where the cheapest place to stay was....and were then escorted to a 4x4 which took us to a place called 'park lodge' it looked nice from 1st impressions but i had a feeling it was going to be another perithinan island sorta job...which would have been horrible. Once we had sat down in reception like we had been told so.....a lady that looked like your nan popped out with 4 drinks...we all looked so happy as it was a really hot day...that all changed once it had gone into our mouths. I really do not know what the hell it was but the guy that we were sitting down with described it to a T.........'sweaty socks and vinto' It was probably one of the most horrible drinks ive ever had in my life.....she then bought out bannanas.....we all thought hey this will take away the funny taste......how wrong we were. They were the weirdest tasting bannanas ever. They had a sorta sour taste to them. Once that ordeal was over...the old lady insisted we watched this nature video on Tamen Negara. LOL what can i say.......50minutes later we finaly got to see our room we were goin to stay in! First impressions were ok.......if you prepare yourself for the worst things can only get better......so the room seemed ok in first light. Better than The perithians thats for sure!!!!!!! The sheets looked clean, the fan worked and we had electricity when we wanted it!!! YAAAY!!! The bathroom was abit of a differnt story thought.....it was connected to our hut in a shed type style.....of course there was no hot water but you didnt reallt need it in that heat!!!...but we did have a Ant infestation!!!!!!!! lol not nice at all!!!! and because it had so many gaps in the shed there was great opportunities for the rest of the jungle to share our bathroom!!!! As we were so hungry!! we had a shower the headed back out. The people who owned the accomodation were the nicest people ever. He gave us hismobile number and informed us that whenever we needed to be picked up to just give him a call. It was like having your dad and mum back on call when you wanted a free ride!!!! Once we had reached the main part we were greeted with a whole load of floating restaurants, as they dont have any onland ones. Getting to them was a funny adventure in its self. Rich the leader of the gang....decided he wanted to find his own 'shortcut' route..... through the mud however what richo didnt realise was it wasnt hard.....and ended up sinking right into it....and loosing his beloved flip flop in the mud...also known as the great havania!!! ooooooohhh if you guys would of seen it you would have been laughing as much as i was.....he then had to put his hand in the mud and find his flip flop...when he had found it ...it was broke.....but richo managed to fix it. After this there was noway i was going the 'shortcut' way so i opted for taking the path....which was lovely and free of sinking mud!!! The food on the restaurant wasnt fantastic...and it was quite expensive to. After dinner we decided to go back to our place and chill out, as we had a early morning the next day!!!!! The nice man wasnt lyeing when he said held pick us up whenever. We gave him a call and within 10mins he was there!!! bless!!!!! When we got back he told us we could help oursleves to as much coffee and tea as we pleased which was fantastic...so we had a cupa and watched dvds with the owners!!!!! About 11ish we were both pritty knakerd and decided to go to bed!!!OOOOOhhhh if only it was that easy.......the night was horrible.....the worst night sleep ive ever had.....if anyone is ever thinking of going to tamen negara...which i reccomend bcoz it is very beautiful.....but whatever you do bring some ear plugs!!!!! The noises in the night are not only really loud but quite SCARY to!!!!! A geckho decided to plonk itself right by our window......and scream all night.....i cant even describe how loud and what a horrible noise it is!!!!!! Also all the other noises that were goin on......god knows what they were!!! So when i looked at the clock and it only said 2am i could of cried!!!!!!! Anyway enough about the noises in the night....lets talk about our all inclusive breaky!!!!!! 3 pieces of toast.........and the fuuny tasting bannanas!!!! lol at least it was free....ild feel a bit annoyed if ild payed!!!!!!! so once our bellys were full of toats and bannanas...we headed off to find the canopy walk. One of the main attractions in Tamen negara...actually in malaysia. The walk was quite eventful to. We decided to save money by not going on a guided tour as we were sure it was going to be straight forward, which it seemed to be at first. Then the signs werent to clear....and we had to ask a group of boys which way to go. They pointed us in what we thought was the right direction.....they followed behind then.....once me and rich had reached a look out point the kids who were about 600m behind us legged it laughting really loud!!! lol they had purposly directed us in the wrong direction for the laugh!!!!We thought we may as well have a little look at the look out point...and then get going again. Once we had got on our way again....we must have been walking for about 40mins and we hadnt seen any signs for the canopy in ages and a thought slipped both our minds.....what if those wallys boys had changed all the signs around........ So we turned back and walked around 40mins until we saw the sign pointing in the direction of the canopy walk.....and we saw there was noway the boys could have changed the dierection of it!!!! lol!!!! so agian we headed on our way to the canopy!!! about 50mins later......(yes when we turned around we were only a 10min walk form it!!!! SHAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) we finnaly reached it!! and were welcomed by quite a big cue...with those boys infornt of us!!!!! anyway all the palaver to get to it was well worth it. The canopy is 45 metres above ground...which doesnt sound high but believe me it is!!!!! being last in the cue also payed off...as we got to take our time and take lots of pics!!!!! it was truly amazing. There currently building one thats 50m high which looks incredibly high!!!! so who knows maybe in a few years we can go walk on that!!!! After the walk we decided there wasnt really much else we wante to do in tamen negara and decided that we would leave the next day. So when we got back to the floating restaurants we booked up to go on a rafting tour for later on that day! When the time had come to go rafting it was soo hot so we were ready to get wet!!!!!! We ended up having the boat to ourselves and we had this cool malysaian that took us out! The rapeds didnt turn out to be fantastic...but the day was afternoon was quality! He took us up the river which is surrounded by pure beauty which was of course the jungle. We also saw something we have both never seen before. These two jungle men were carting 4 water bufflow up the river....they were tied to the boat and were sort of the boats engine.....thats the only way i can describe. He asked us if we wanted to swim with them...but we opted out as there were letches sin the water!!!!! After this he took us to a place where he could put his boat and we could all sit down. He then drew fake henna tatoos on our backs with stones that you wet...turn to paint!!! amazing!!!!! After about 45mins of chilling out and chilling with the man we decided to leave. We all ended up having the biggest water fight on the boat and i ended up getting a bucket right over my head!!! very fun day!!!!! That evening we decided to stay on our lodge and taste the food there as it was reasonable priced. We both orderd chicken curry. I think i can safely say that it was the yummiest curry ive ever had!!!!! It was home made and seriously delish!!!! That night wasnt as bad as the first and we ended up getting a half decent sleep. The next destination we had chosen to go to was back to Kuala Lumper for a few days before heading to singapore. We got the night train to save money...and that was that from tamen negara!!!! hope you enjoyed the latest adventures form us xxxmwahxx until next time xxxxx
