.....So after the disappointing destination that was port d*** on we headed to a place called melaka...it had been recommened by other backpackers....so we were quite excited about what may lie ahead! After about 2hours on the good old public transport we reached melaka around 4p.m. We were greeted with the usual.....people trying to get us to stay at there 'pad'.....in the end we went for one that was recomened by lonely planet.....a place called 'Travellors INN' A very clean friendly place...where like mym mums house you have to take your shoes off at the entrance and your not allowed to wear them inside...... The room was 50rm that included air-con and our own bathroom..which had hot water...so we were very happy! After settling in, we were both straving so headed towrds the nearest place that did food. We found some family run cafe place.....we both ordered 'sweet and sour' but when the food came we ended up with one sweet and sour and one fried rice...haha.....although we only got one of what we wanted the food was delicious fresh, and cheap!!! i think it came to aorund 10rm which is just over a 1quid....BARGAIN!!!! after that we headed south.....which after about 30mins of walking...realised we were going the wrong way......so we headed bak to our hotel. every night they showed a movie at 9...so that kept us happy! The next day we just explored what we got told the historical town...and that it was.....full of musuems, monuments, vinatage shops, and another chinatown........how many chinatowns does this world have...weve already visited 3or 4......wats that about....... Lol one of the little shops we visited...well the guy insisted we see his 'art' work so we went in......the guy kept boasting that he had painted them....he really did think he was some sort of picasso or monet....he really wasnt...the paintings looked like theyld been done by a 5yr old!!!!! He also kepf insisting that we buy 1 off them...we said we couldnt as we were backpackers and wouldnt have room for the masterpieces!!!haha!!! We heard that melaka had a night zoo.....so we decided we would check it out....it open every fri and sat...so that fri that would be our destination......we ended up gettin a taxi there as the bus didnt end up coming......it was alot further away than we had 1st thought. When we arrived we went exploring for abit...then noticed a little train......so we climbed aboard and were given a special mention...being that we were the only tourists on the train!!!! The guide gave his guided tour off the zoo.....of course rich and i understood nothing....but the occasional animal........the zoo was great fun...very different at night....and also a bit scary!!!!! Its not quite whipesnade....but its got animals and picnic areas so thats all you need from a zoo isnt it???? neway after about 1hour 30mins we decied that we had had enough and decided to go get a taxi.....after about 40mins we finally got picked up.......but before we headed home we decided to go 4 a couple drinks....that is where the randomness began........we got chattin 2 2malaysion couples....after a few drinks later the night was in full swing......the lady kept trying to set us up with differnt people...me wiv the bar manager...and rich with his sister..lol...she kept on insisting that it was ok 2 have 2 g/f???? i wonder what her son is like?????? after a few dedicated english songs that wel never even heard before were blasted out on the karoke machine and sang.....hmmmm very badly......lol ...the lady disapperad to the car... a few minuted later she emerged with bowls. a pot of rice and a container full of soup.....she kept going on about how her husabnd hated her cooking.....it didnt take long 4 us 2 realise y......the rice was rock hard!!!! ooooo sooo funny!!!! towrads the end of the night the lady dragged me up on stage to sing a chinese song.....i didnt have a clue...yet i gave it my best shot.....and busted out a few moves in that time aswell.........they kept insisting that we went 4 dinner with them the next day..however we did think it to be a lil strange ...so we made our excuses and kept low the next day!!!! a very funny random night indeed!!! what we know they were generally nice people...but u never can tell these days!!!! Neway the nxt few days were full off exloring...more shopping and of course plenty of eating!!!! Melaka is a gr8 place...got soo much to do..thats why we ended up staying there 4 5nights in the end!!! Dad you would love it.......its got plenty museums.....and historical buildings...and of course TESCO!!!! wat more could you want from a destination ey!!!!! So melaka defianlty is high up on the places weve been.....had a gr8 time there and somewhere im sure weld visit again..........miss u all xxmwahxx oooo theres 2 blogs under k.l...cant seem to change the heading to melaka......enjoy the read xxxxxx
