India and Nepal 2022
Just time this morning for a quick walk around the neighbourhood and to look at Portuguese architecture in the adjoining streets. Some buildings are being done up and freshly painted, whilst others definitely look that they are well past their best. The shops still retain many Portuguese names such as Fernandes and Menezes and nameplates adorn the walls of private houses. Late morning, it's off to the airport for the first of three flights today with stopovers in Mumbai and Delhi before my scheduled arrival in Kathmandu late tonight. You have to have supreme patience at Indian immigration as it is exasperating! There are 1.3 billion people in India but just two staff on duty for a huge queue of people wanting to get onward flights/international transfers in Delhi. When I finally got through, I thought I was home and dry and then my heart sank to see another huge chaotic queue for security. It was the slowest, most inept and inefficient system I have ever encountered. To cut a long story short, I ended up being whisked to the gate by a trolley vehicle and running to catch the flight in the nick of time on 'Final Call' !!! You can follow the final leg of my Asia adventure on the Nepal section of the dashboard.
