Ric Flack's Travels
Breakfast was in the hotel this morning. It was a Full English Breakfast Buffet.
Once we ate, we walked to the Houses of Parliament and then on to Westminster Abbey. The Abbey didn't open for about 30 minutes so we walked on to Buckingham Palace through St. James Park.
We saw the palace and watched the guards marching in front of the castle then walked back to Westminster Abbey. We toured the church using the complimentary audio guide. It really is a beautiful church. Kelsie really didn't like the fact that Westminster Abbey house many tombs.
Once finished there, we walked to the Underground and rode it to Tower Hill where we went to the Tower of London. I really like the history of the Tower and the girls liked to see the Crown Jewels. We had lunch at the Tower Cafe.
Then it was on to St. Paul's Cathedral. As beautiful as Westminster Abbey is, St. Paul's is so much more. We looked at the beautiful church and then begun our ascent up 257 stairs to the Whispering Gallery along the inside of the dome. Then 159 stairs to the outside of the Dome and finally 129 steps to the top of the dome on the outside. The view there is great! The last set of stairs is atight spiral metal mesh and very steep. Kelsie didn't much like that part of the climb but she was a trooper and made it both up and down
After St. Paul's, we went to Kensington Park so that Regan could see the Peter Pan Stature that is located in that park.
We had arrange to meet our friends Melanie and Nick for dinner. They arrived at the hotel and we decided to eat at the restaurant there. It was a great night and we were so glad to get to see them again.
It was a day full of London Sights and Great Company.
