Our ship docked in Warnemunde Germany today. This is a port town at the very north of Germany. In order to get to Berlin we had to take a train for 2.5 hours. We met at 7:15 and walked across the street to the train station where we boarded the train. Once onboard the train we were served water and a box breakfast of a cream cheese sandwich, apple, candy bar, some pudding/Danish dessert and Capri Sun.

Upon arrival in Berlin we were escorted from the train to our motorcoach where we began our site seeing experience. Our first stop was the East Side Gallery. It is a 1 mile long stretch of the Berlin Wall that has been painted by 100 different artists. We then walked around the back of the wall to the Dead Zone so we could see what it was like between the two walls that created the entire Berlin Wall.

Then we got back on our bus to continue the tour. The nice feature of the tour that we choose is that our bus was equipped with video screens so that as we stopped at different sights we could see what it looked like in the past and what it looks like today. It was a great way to get a feel of how Berlin has changed in the past 100 years.

We then made a quick stop at the TV tower and the oldest standing church in East Berlin. Also next to that is the Red City Hall.

We then drove onto Museum Island and saw many building there including the Hermitage College. Then we proceeded onward to the Brandenburg Gate. This gate was originally an entrance to Museum Island where the palace used to be but has lived on in the history of Berlin long since then. It is also the site where Tom Brokaw broke the news that East Berlin was going to allow free passage into and out of East Berlin.

We then got back on the bus and went to Potsdam Plaza, a square that at one time was the busiest intersection in all of Berlin. It is also the site of the first traffic signal in Berlin. In the past 15 years it has been the site of extensive building after the square was demolished in WWII.

It was then time for lunch. We ate at a restaurant in the Hyatt hotel. When we arrived we were served a salad and bread followed by bratwurst, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, chicken, rice and mixed vegetables followed by apple strudel for dessert.

Then we were back on the bus for our tour to continue. We stopped at Checkpoint Charlie which was the only crossing between East and West Berlin for US and British Citizens.

We continued our tour of Berlin seeing many other sites including the Tempelhof Airport before stopping near the remnants of the Memorial Church for a few minutes of shopping.

Once back on the bus we had about another hour of site seeing including the Reichstag, the current government building.

Then it was time to get back on the train for our 2.5 hour ride back to Warnemunde. We were given box lunches of sandwich, apricot, peanuts, beef stick and a cake along with water.

We arrived back on the ship around 8:15, well after our dinner seating so we headed up to the room. The girls decided that they wanted to go see a movie and Nikki and I went up to Pluto's Dog House for a little bite and then a relaxing time in the hot tub.

We met the girls back in the room and Nikki and Regan went to see the comedy show (they moved showtime to 10pm today) and Kelsie went to her club. I decided to chill in the room.

Tomorrow is a day at sea so we should have a relaxing time.
