Ric Flack's Travels
Today was embarkation day and we had to have our luggage ready to go by 8:00 am. Once we knew our bags were packed and properly tagged we went down to breakfast in the hotel restaurant.
Our bus pickup time to get to the Cruise Terminal was 9:30 and we had a few things we needed to pick up. So, after breakfast, we went on a walk to find a grocery store. We had to go to three different shops in order to get what we needed but were successful.
We made it back to the hotel and caught our bus to the cruise ship. It took us about 2.5 hours to get to Dover from London because of the traffic in London and we also made a "potty" stop part way through the ride.
Getting on the ship was a breeze because we had already checked in at the hotel. We just passed through security, flashed our Key to the World Cards and went onto the ship.
Lunch was a buffet in Topsiders.
We finished eating at about 1:20 and took some photos of the White Cliffs of Dover and then went down to our stateroom as they allowed us access to them at 1:30. Nikki and Kelsie stayed in the room while
Regan and I decided to wander the ship. We saw Pluto and took a tour of the Spa. Even hung around for a chance to win a free spa treatment but we weren't lucky enough to have won.
When we finished we went downstairs to get ready for the lifeboat drill. When we got to our door, we were excited to see that five of our six bags had been delivered outside the room. The girls unpacked and then it was time to go to the lifeboat drill. And we discovered our sixth bag had been delivered.
After the drill, we dropped off our life jackets and went to the Sail Away Party. As the ship left port we sailed along the cliffs so that we could get a good look at them.
Dinner tonight was in Animators Palate and the theme was “Let the Magic Begin”. Our server is Mariano from Argentina and our Assistant Server was Sipho from South Africa. Our Head server was our server from a previous cruise Fitz from Jamaica.
After dinner we stopped in Shutters to purchase our photo package and then went to Studio Sea to see Mickey Mania. Kelsie wanted to play but when they asked for people to volunteer she decided she didn’t want to.
A quick drop off of items in our room was followed by the evening show “All Aboard: Let the Magic Begin” with some musical numbers, a comedian named Andy Ford and a magician named Jason Bishop. Both of whom will be performing later in the cruise.
Part way through the show Regan and Kelsie had to leave for their mani/pedi/facial treatments. After the show Nikki and I walked around for a little bit then met the girls in the room to regroup for tomorrow and say good night before the girls went out to their respective clubs.
Dinner:
Ric: a Moroccan spiced shredded chicken wrap, an arugula and white bean salad, Seafood Risotto and a trio of desserts.
Nikki: a Moroccan spiced shredded chicken wrap, chilled cucumber soup, Mango Chicken Salad and apple tart tartan.
Regan: Cajun spiced calamari, seafood chowder, Yachtsman Steakhouse Sirloin and a Kailua, pistachio and white chocolate soufflé served on a white chocolate brownie.
Kelsie: Salmon Carpaccio, chilled cucumber soup, Seafood Risotto and a trio of desserts

LNorton Cool pic of Dover. Isn't it great that they do the dessert tastings? I'm glad, because now I don't have to order every dessert on the menu. It shows up in two bite samples on one pretty platter.
Justin Tell your server that you are anxious to see how Maradona's team does in the rest of the world cup and that Messi is your favorite player. He'll be impressed at your knowledge. Continue to have a blast! Oh and remember my Germany jersey, Coo Coo Clock and stein when you're in Germany, thanks!
Steve Baker Sweet! Great family shot with the white cliffs behind you. Looking forward to hearing about Day 2 on the Magic.

Mom, Gram, Grandma Please tell Fitz hello for us. That was such a memorable trip and it was partly due to the meals that Fitz served us. We will all remember him and how helpful and kind he was especially with our little ones. Remember! I love the blog and can't wait each night to read it. I also love you guys....lots.
