Day 5 - The Shogun is Sleeping and The Search for Tokyo Tower
Today we got up early and set out to find a new hotel. Luckily we only had to walk for about 15 minutes and were able to find a hotel right next to Okachimachi station.
We went to visit the Imperial Garden but were very disappointed to find that it was closed - Daddy said that was because the Shogun was sleeping.
We decided to walk to Tokyo Tower which was a long way away but Mummy saw it straight away as it is so tall and looks a bit like the Eiffel Tower. We walked through some lovely parks and even heard an orchestra playing Waltz Sing Matilda in the park! We also stopped off at a shrine and we had to climb 85 steep steps to get to it. We discovered that the steps are known for 'success in life' and we were very happy we had climbed them. Daddy then got us a little bit lost but thankfully a friendly Japanese man sorted us out and we were soon back on track.
We finally made it to Tokyo Tower and headed up the elevator to the observation deck. I couldn't believe how big Tokyo was! The city stretched as far as the eye could see in every direction. Mum pointed our Mount Fuji in the distance but it is so big that the top of it was in the clouds. We found some viewing windows in the floor and could see the street all the way below but Mum and I were too scared to stand on them. We headed back to the hotel for dinner and a bath, and are going to have an early night tomorrow as we have a big day tomorrow.
