Tuesday 4th
Nothing much planned today so we headed to check out some shopping centres . Couldn't believe these places as it was looking walking through Myer or David Jones or any Westfield. Prices to match so don't know who actually shops here as Vietnam is generally so poor though there must be some rich folk around and some ex pats.
Between the shopping centres we visited Notte Dame cathedral and the Central post office and send some postcards .
After we got back we headed to a massage place and had awesome foot and leg massage and scored a cucumber facial which was different.
Really enjoyed the quad massages as they have been suffering with all the walking these past few weeks so was really nice. So many massage places in this street it's hard to find a good one but they could all be good but can't get to everyone unfortunately .
After dinner we headed back to Bobby Brewers to watch a movie. Such a great find in this area though the movie quality and sound was good quality it had Chinese subtitles with Vietnamese translation over the top.
Wed 5th
Went on the Cu Chi tunnel tour today which is about 60 kms from HMC
It's a lot more touristy and commercial here . The tunnel system is sort of like Vin Moch but the tunnels are a lot smaller. Pat and I had to crawl on hands and knees at one point. Very hot and hard work and we did not enjoy them as much as Vinh Moc
We did get to shoot a real M16 with real bullets. You had to buy 10 bullets 350,000 dong which was expensive but again an experience we are never likely to do again.
The tunnel entrances were a lot smaller here and they said was to keep the big American soldiers out.
Was pretty interesting how these villages took to living underground. They also had examples of a heap of different traps the Vietnamese used against the U.S. Forces. They did not have the same weaponry so they had to use these resources to fight. They would have been some brutal deaths from these traps.
