15th January we made our way towards Fox Glacier and Franz Joseph Glacier. On route we made a 96km detour for lunch. We were recommended to try the Craypot fish restaurant at Jackson Bay. The food was superb well worth the detour. We had Rig and Gurnard with chips which we shared.
We arrived at Fox a Glacier in full bright sunshine but unfortunately this changed overnight and we were only able to see a small amount of the glacier the next day. We then moved on to Franz Joseph where we did a two hour round walk in pouring rain but got to see more of the Glacier.
The next day we made our way to Hokitika and then Greymouth where stayed on a lovely site next to the beach and the Tasman Ocean.
Today we travelled to Westport and then up to Motueka in the Marlbough wine region, it is also in the Kahurangi National Park. Tomorrow we are off to Abel Tasman.
