On Sunday we made our way to Port MacDonald the Crayfish capital of the area. This is such a pretty little harbour we parked up and spent more than an hour happily watching people launching their boats and then bringing them back a shore when their fishing expedition had been successful. We saw a friendly Dolphin who lives around the local coast he constantly follows the boats in and out of the harbour. We bought a Crayfish before leaving and then had a scrummy...

Mount Gambier also has two lakes, one which is a beautiful blue colour in the summer and then changes to grey in winter. This lake feeds the town so there is no swimming or boating allowed. The second lake available is for everyone to enjoy so the locals go swimming, diving and boating.

We found so much to do in Mount Gambier that we stayed for two nights at the campsite in the centre of town. At only £15.00 per night for a powered site it was an absolute bargain. Mount Gambier is at the heart of a volcanic region and many thousands of years ago the volcanos collapsed in on themselves creating lakes and sinkholes. The Flight time from Perth to AdelIde is three hours which together with a two and a half time difference meant that we picked up our campervan at about 3.30pm. We decided to head straight out to McLaren Vale wine country and found a great camp site. Australian camp sites often seem to offer private bathrooms on your pitch complete with shower - very nice.
