Well it's our last night in Kuala Lumpur before flying off to NZ tomorrow (although we don't actually land till Saturday afternoon NZ time).
So Monday we had a day trip out to a town called Malacca which was about an hour and a half drive. We stopped at a cultural park on the way called Mini Malaysia where they had traditional Malaysian houses you could walk around and we watched a Malaysian dance show. We then headed on to Malacca town centre, stopping at the outskirts first to do a river cruise, where we saw a couple of 3 foot (ish) lizards swimming in the water!! We walked around the centre, and climbed a steep stairway to get to the old fortress at the top of a hill. After more walking around we decided the heat was a bit much, and me and Lowri demanded a cocktail break, so we popped into Hard Rock Cafe. We managed a brief 10 minutes in Chinatown, before going back to meet our driver, Rahman, who took us to a popular restaurant famous for its traditional 'nonya' food which was delicious. It was kind of Indianese (Chinese crossed with Indian). Tuesday we had our first chill day by the pool, which was much needed after days of non-stop site seeing. But in the evening we went out for the best Indian meal of my life (which is where the profile picture was taken). We ate off banana leaves too. Yesterday me, Mum and Lowri got the hop-on-hop-off bus around KL, with a few hops off to see the Sultans Palace (from behind the huge gates), Chinatown, Central Market and the KL tower (fab views of the city - we went right to the top!) Me and Lowri headed out to Bukit Bintang last night, to a lively street full of bars, and stumbled across a bar where it was ladies night, so we drank for free all night!! Needless to say we were a little fragile today, but it was great fun at the time. We made friends with a couple of guys from Leeds who were very entertaining (hey Rob & Glyn if you're reading!!) So our next update will be from New Zealand.... WE'RE SO EXCITED!!
