So what can we say about Queenstown, well it is the Adventure Tourism capital of the world... and thats about it. We dont think that 180 dollars for 20 minutes of rafting is worth it, neither of us wants to get sick jumping off cliff with an elastic band tied to our ankles and sky diving is just expensive no matter what way you look at it. So we did some hikes, and they were lovely actually. In fairness it is a shame it is so expensive because it would have been nice to do stuff like that, and we could have easily pushed the boat out (literally) if we were just coming here, but we need to be smarter about these things, especially when it seems we might have to swim across Queensland in Australia with a rental car in tow!!!
On our first day here anyway we walked around the town and down to a park. It was a lovely Irish day with lots of clouds and really dark, the photos might be up there showing it. It managed to clear up though and we had lovely weather the rest of the time we were here. In the evening we get sunsets just like the one above and although the sunset option has in fairness added a little colour to the photo, it was pretty much as specatular as shown. We got loads more photos of it from last night so I will put them up for ooh's and ahh's when I get a chance.
Yesterday, which was Tuesday, we climbed up the Queenstown Hill, and Regina didnt nearly die this time, I think she is starting to get used to this!!!! The views were lovely again and you could see loads of people paragliding around the town (in the sky of course). That evening we went for a Fergburger, highly recommended by my fellow travellers from Holland and USA so we had to give it a go. They were giant, and for some reason it has only dawned on me now to have taken a photo of them (hmmm they open early... breakfast burger????). It wasnt the tastiest, the old Comber family holiday barbeque burgers in France will always hold that honour for sure but still it was definately top 5 at least
The day before, we tried to drive to Paradise, but the road was flooded by a Ford so we couldnt pass it in our two wheel drive bucket of bolts. I think they filmed some of the Lord of the Rings there too, like everywhere in New Zealand to be honest. The drive was spectacular though, glaciers and lakes and forests and everything, as usual..... I can understand why people might be getting bored of the photos.... Each epic landscape we see does make us gasp though with awe, the photos just dont do them justice.
Anyway, not much else to report from Queenstown that I can remember. Lots of the group from Wanaka are here too and we are taking one of them with us again to Te Amo. Anyway, hope you have enjoyed this one, I doubt it....
By the way, the comments have dried up a bit...... feedback is helpful to a budding young writer..........
