So I would like to start by offering my apologies for what has been written by my co-traveller. I will change the password on the blog so that it never happens again. The views and opinions expressed in that entry do not reflect the views and opinions of the blog and that is why this retraction is being written, thank you for your understanding...
In other news, we are still walking our way into the record books I think. We must have clocked up about a thousand miles of walking in the past few days. It is interesting to walk through these streets (from my perspective). The rubbish and the little kids going through the rubbish are awful, but they are there, and that cant be changed (even with special bins for bottles). The rest of the people have a character which kind of reminds me of Irish people, particularily Cork people. The obvious link being that Shay O'Guevara was from Cork of course. The rebel culture is seen everywhere though. The art massively reflects it, the current political trends (we have seen about 4 protest marches since we arrived). There is also a kind of cheekyness to them, but again in a good way. They love their Italian food, in fact it is said they eat more pizza than the Italians. They speak Spanish of course. There are lots of American trends here too, and the dress sense of the normal to well to do people is much more stylish than their Rio counterparts (Regina told me that, I havent noticed...). This is definately a European city gone south and west all at once. Anyway, what did we do yesterday....
Yesterday, we took a million hour walk down through Centro and passed a pub called the Kilkenny Bar (for a photo of me), and on towards Palermo. In Palermo there is a rose garden for Regina and it has a 1 mile track running around it for me. The garden was closed for gardening purposes, and I didnt have gear (it is actually used by a lot of runners) so instead we took a pedalo boat around the man made lake. This was maybe the highlight of the whole trip for me so far, especially the part where Regina steered the boat, that was very special to me. After the park, we walked over towards the Hippodrome, and luckily for us there was a race on.... not hippos no, they race horses there.... the horseydrome doesnt sound good. We watched one race, which was exciting enough for two people with no interest in horse racing. The place itself is very stylish, even the poor peoples section (the free section we were in) was nice. The posh bit was especially posh looking of course. They apparently love their horses in Argentina, and across the street from the newly named Horseydome is the Polo grounds. Personally I think its cruel to make horses try swim with people on their backs playing polo, but what do I know... I just run around the place for sport. After the horses we headed for home on the subway, just like any other subway, it sucks, but its highly efficient and packed, also I may have mentioned it costs 22 cent euro money for as many connections as you like.
Back at the ranch, Regina checked her emails, and I fell asleep on the couch. We met up with Mags and her sister after a quick change of room (turns out we have flees, or the room does, or something). That was more or less it, we ate again.... Top tip for eating in BA, the centro is rubbish for food after six because all the business chapeens and chapetes are gone home so the restaurants put up the old "no Irish, no dogs" sign and have a good old laugh at us after we have read the menu and picked what we want and are about to order and they tell us they have stopped serving Irish and Dogs (we think it is a legal thing to serve people the meat of irish or dog, not sure). Off home we go, to a night of hopefully bite free ness, unfortunately to be replaced with ignorance on behalf of our new roomates who arrive late and dont know how to whisper, or shut up, or go away, or (thankfully) know how to not fall out of a top bunk bed... just desserts.... mmmmmmm dessert
Thats all for now folks, not sure if they have the internet in your a gay, but they do have a UNESCO world heritage site in our first stop, Colonia... guess what, its a colonial town..... sprained ankle anyone???? Updates to follow maybe when we get back, and photos, maybe..... xoxo
