Colleen & Tom's Explorations
So this morning we had our alarm set for 6.30am. Breakfast in the Horizon Room began at 7am and was wonderful - eggs, bacon, sausages and tomatoes followed by rockmelon, honeydew melon and wonderful pineapple. For free. We had to get ourselves to the sky rail terminal to catch the tour bus to the Freshwater train station, where we caught the Kuranda Scenic Train. The railway line has 15 tunnels and 93 curves, and takes 90 minutes to do the 34 km journey, in old heritage carriages. It was quite lovely. When we reached Kuranda (pop. 3,000) we caught the shuttle bus past the local historic pub (hangover emporium) to the centre of town and slowly walked back, taking in the markets, a gazillion Australiana souvenir shops and such and stopping at a cafe for a pizza lunch. We then caught the sky rail back down the mountain, a journey of 7.5km, with a changeover station. The view from the gondola was just amazing - looking down on the rainforest canopy. When we reached the terminal, Tom went off to check out the Australian Armoury and Artillery Museum, which he said was wonderful. (Free) Dinner in the Horizon Club room, after an hour of reading and napping by the pool, consisted of Asian fried beef, Thai fish cakes, yummy seafood wontons, sushi and other delightful finger food, washed down by several glasses of Hardy's sparkling wine!

Jessica Looks like a fun excursion!! Was that helicopter paparazzi? Did it think you guys were from the bachelorette?
Colleen Yes - I think they thought it was Robin Williams resurrected hanging out with Bette Midler!
