Colleen & Tom's Explorations
Today was very uneventful, but that's good, right? Chari dropped us off at the station on her way to work and her journey was made much more interesting when some tailgating tool spun out behind her going down Mitchell's Pass in the rain. But I digress. We checked in the baggage, had lunch and then went through security and immigration and the GST refund office. Bought some Dior fragrances, always beautiful. While we were in the check-in line a man came along checking on everyone's travel arrangements. They had over booked (really, how can that happen?) and some people were going to be denied seats so he was seeing if anyone would like to wait till this evening's flight and fly business class on that one. If it was all the way to London, it would have been worth ditching tonight's stopover and going with it, but it was only for the journey to Kuala Lumpur Our flight was lovely, very smooth. Two thirds of our time in the air was spent flying across Australia. It's a big country. I watched a movie called Crazy stupid love which was entertaining, a few episodes of Friends, and then started on the new movie about Alfred Hitchcock, which I was enjoying but didn't get to finish. Hopefully I can finish it on tomorrow's flight. Kuala Lumpur international airport was familiar, having been here two years ago, so we were able to easily find the meeting point for our hotel. One minute after arriving there a porter came along in the golf buggy and picked us up. He took us for the five minute drive through connecting walkways from the airport to the hotel, all in air-conditioned comfort. Despite being 9pm, the outside temperature is 30 degrees C and the humidity is awfully oppressive. The hotel is as lovely as always - pity all we do here is shower and sleep before continuing on the next leg of our journey tomorrow feeling clean and fresh.
