Colleen & Tom's Explorations
Early start this morning, ready for our 8 hour shore excursion. We had breakfast upstairs in the Lido, but only a light one. I had been talking to another passenger in the laundry who went on a ranch visit and warned us that we get fed a lot! So off we went to see Gaucho Life on the Pampas. After a 90 minute drive we were greeted with juice and empanadas. We then had the chance to go horse riding or for a wagon ride, or to just check out their museum set up in the original home. We met a lovely English couple who live in Scottsdale, Arizona, and had our BBQ lunch with lots of beer and wine, with them. This was followed by a show with tango and samba dancing, and singing. We were amazed at all the eucalypts and bottle brushes growing there!! We returned to the ship in time for our mandatory safety drill, and dinner. We also had a chance to cancel our revised shore excursion in Punta Arenas. They told us that the penguin colony had already migrated and we couldn't see $200/person value in a city tour and watching sheepdogs, so we had the $400 credited to our room, and then purchased the $100 internet package! That gives me about 20 minutes/day! Tonight we had dinner in the restaurant. We changed from the 8pm seating to 5.45pm. The food was just lovely - lamb shanks and rocky road ice cream. We bought a couple of bottles of Rosemount wine (a Shiraz for my lamb and C******nay for Tom's barramundi) to drink over the next few days. The chef came out and chatted to us - he's a kiwi who lives in Brisbane when he's not on board. Then we watched Buenos Aires fade into the distance as we finally left the harbour!

Charie Was the ranch house called "the silvery" or something like that? "La plata"??
Colleen Watt I don't remember its name. I was wondering if it was the one you went to. It had a souvenir shop and a huge dining hall.
