Colleen & Tom's Explorations
Today we had a late start. Checkout was 12 midday, so we just took it easy and organised our luggage. Our local guide and driver took us all down to the wharf with Pepe who helped hand over our luggage to the porters, and then it was time to say goodbye to him! :( he has been a wonderful guide for the two weeks. It took forever to wait our turn to go through security, and then upstairs to have id shots taken, stateroom keys given to us, and then another photo for immigration and thumb prints. Then we handed our passports in and went back downstairs to a bus to be driven along the port area, through the container shipping terminal to our waiting ship. The MS Zaandam is a mid-size ship, not too big. Our cabin is a nice size - probably the biggest one we've ever had. After finding our cabin we went straight down to the only laundry on the ship - we'd put our dirty clothes into our carry-on baggage so we could tackle our washing immediately. It was such a relief to get our washing done! After doing the washing we decided to have an early dinner at the lido. We then went to the dining room and changed our dinner sitting to 5.45pm, instead of 8pm. We then came across the cocktail bar where the pub trivia was being held, right as it was about to start! We didn't do very well, but we did have a lovely cocktail each (only $6.95). We then found the library with info about the Internet, and then made our way back to our room for an early night!
