Colleen & Tom's Explorations
We had Brekky delivered to our suite this morning so we could get organized to watch our progress down glacier alley (Beagle Chanel) to Ushuaia. It is breathtakingly beautiful. There were 6 glaciers on our way in to Ushuaia. This afternoon we did a tour of the large prison that is now a museum. This was built by the Argentinian government so that they could populate and settle the area. After that we were taken out of town to a narrow gauge train station where we were given empanadas, alfajores and chocolate coated alfajores. We then boarded the little train which had an audio track telling us the history behind it, taking the prisoners out to cut down trees to heat the prison and run the power supply. At the end of the line we were collected by our guide and coach and taken further in to the Tierra del Fuego National Park to see the southernmost post office, on the Beagle Channel with the border between Chile and Argentina running down the middle. Then it was back to the ship and order in some salmon steaks to have in our room - too late returning to go to our dinner booking!! At 8pm we went up to one of the bars which features a guitarist/singer - tonight he was doing a James Taylor hour - James Taylor songs with martinis! Sweet!

Shannon Looks a lot like our Alaskan cruise some 15 years ago! And Dad hasn't changed a bit! Time warp.....
Colleen Watt So true!! Who even knew Chile had fjords and glaciers? But yes, dad hasn't changed. When I took the photo it was a bit déjà vu!
