Yep, still here. They say half the fun of travelling is the travelling part itself, well b******s to that because we've been here on Samui for 2 weeks now, are still in the same hut, and f***ing loving it! This place is paradise. Snorkelling in the clear blue sea chasing the billions of fish, sipping cocktails on the beach (along with the occasional beer of course), and feasting on amazing Thai food. This place rocks!
Randomly stumbled across a fantastic Thai rock band the other night playing in a quality Irish boozer. When I say fantastic I don't necessarily mean that they were musically gifted (the bassist wasn't even plugged in for the first few tunes, didn't stop him going through the motions though) but fair play to them for giving it a bash. Their Oasis covers nearly brought tears to my eyes. "Maybe's, you're gonna be the one that saves me's. And after all's, you're my wonderwall's". They also smashed out a few CCR, Stones, Doors, and Beatles
tunes with quite a unique Thai flavour. I don't think the letter L has any apt translation in their language, which only made their La Bamba cover so much more interesting.
Watched the boxing in the same pub at 9 in the AM (beer and bacon do go very well together). Victor Ortiz is a total penis! A kiss and cuddle to apologise for nutting Mayweather, guard goes down and BOOM! I really wanted to see that wife beating, dancing with the stars, total f*** face Mayweather taste defeat. Hopefully he doesn't retire AGAIN before someone finally puts him on his arse.
Been doing a whole lot of chilling today. Ploughing through Robert Anton Wilson's Cosmic Trigger. Mind bending stuff! Gets the old grey matter working overtime. That man is an inspirational, super genius. Such an open mind.
We will eventually be moving on from Lamai, and I'll start blogging about something other than music, boxing, beer and books. For now though I'm going to grab another cold one and get back to the hammock.
Much love
X
