Rachel's European Adventure
Hi All-
I am continuing to have a fabulous time over here in the UK. Last week I saw three plays. The first was When Harry Met Sally, starring Luke Perry (of 90210 fame) and Allison Hannigan (of Buffy and American Pie fame). The show was really fun, and I was shocked at what a good actor Luke Perry was, and we were all slightly dismayed to realize how old he must be. Allison Hannigan was ok, and had some really good moments but was not overall, consistant.
On Tuesday I went with Katie and Becca to see The Complete History of America (Abridged) which was created by the Reduced Shakespeare Company who also do Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged and The Complete Word of God Abridged. The show was absolutly hilarious! And it was interesting to see which jokes the Brits in the audience got, compared to what we thought was funny. I HIGHLY recommend the show, it is a really fun few hours!
On Wednesday we went with Text and Performance to see Singer at the Tricycle Theater. I was so glad that it was not your standard Holocaust Play fare, despite the fact that that was how it begain. It traced the life of a Holocaust Survivor and used alot of Brecht Alienation Techniques which made it easier for the audience to watch because you could distance yourself from the show and it made it more barable than naturalism would have been.
This weekend we went shopping on Saturday in Oxford Circus which was alot of fun, apparently the 1950's are back in style, according to High Street designers anyways. And I went to see Mona Lisa Smile on Saturday. It was such a good movie, with an amazing soundtrack.
Sunday I went to the Museum of London near St. Pauls Cathedral. It was really interesting especially after doing the London Projects with Mr. Day and Dr. Stone in Humanities. It was an easy way to spend the afternoon.
Well I need to dash off to Class at the Drill Hall :-)
Miss you all!
Love,
Rachel
