Rachel's European Adventure
Wow, it has been a while since I have updated this, so here it goes...
Last week we went to Oxford which was really cool. One of our professors here is and alum so we were able to get into a couple of the colleges that are not normally open to the public. We went to Christ Church which, for all you Harry Potter Fans, is what the Hogwarts dinning hall is based on, and also where they filmed all the staircase scenes in the opening of the movies. Apparently they filmed there for 5 weeks on each movie. It was really pretty, and I wish I was at school there!
We have also seen both halfs of His Dark Materials, which is based on a series of childrens books by Phillip Pullman and it was amazing! The show was sold out before it opened, and we got return tickets, and pretty good seats for only £12 for each show!
Tonight we are going to see The Taming of the Shrew at the Queen's Theatre which hopefully, will be better than some of the other plays that we have seen in text and performance.
I have an internship at The Theatre Museum in Covent Garden, working with the head of the Education Department for the Victoria and Albert Museum, which is alot of fun doing research and helping to set up workshops with kids and stuff.
Overall, I am having a blast and the weather is amazing here! Green Grass and everything. It is also starting to get warmer and I am used to the rain. Hope all is going splendously back in the states!
Love,
Rachel
