The teepee was fantastic last night - although I was freezing cold because I forgot to pick up a blanket from reception! I didnt do anything last night - I was actually in bed by 7pm - and slept twelve hours!
I woke up at 06:45 this morning, to the birds singing outside. I took my book to the hammocks and read a chapter before getting ready to be picked up at 10:15 for my trip to Nimbin. Caitlin was coming too.
We were picked up by 'GrassHoppers' (name says it all!) tour bus and was greeted by Ivan - the South African tour guide, who Im positive was on something before we even got to Nimbin - and we drove an hour to Lismore. We stopped for fuel and had a drink and I got talking to a girl and her Mum from Surrey! It was so strange to be the other side of the world and be talking to someone that lives so close to us! I spent most of the bus journey trying to calm down a hyperactive 20 year old Australian guy; Jacob, who had lost his wallet with $400 in! I was trying to explain to him that it would either be on the bus or at his hostel, and if he'd lost it somewhere in between, then it was gone and there was nothing he could do about it. Again, Im sure he was on something before getting to Nimbin!
I met some people on the bus - Yann and Felix from the Whitsunday tour, and Cagl from Surfers Paradise. It was cool to meet up with people that I had met earlier on in my trip.
We stopped 1km from Nimbin to be told about the history of the town, and Ivan even told us how to pick magic mushrooms! It was crazy! He was very funny though! As we pulled off, he put the song 'Because I got High' on, really loud. Everyone on the bus was in fits of laughter.
Within two minues of being off the bus, we were offered 'cookies' and 'cake' - basically the marijuana is boiled in butter for two weeks and then used to make the cake / cookie. So you can imagine how strong they would have been (dont worry - I didnt touch them)!
We walked around the town for an hour and a half, visited a musuem with funky hippy stuff in. I bought a few pairs of cool earings and a gorgeous scarf for $10 - so cheap and noone back home will have the same one!
We left Nimbin and drove to Wighn Wighn - the aboriginal word for lots of trees. We had a BBQ and swam in the lake - it was a great way to finish off the day.
On the way home, we realised that Jacob had eaten three cookies - and the recommended amount is half a cookie per person for four hours! He went a bit mad and thought that he had no legs. It was quite funny, but all the same , a bit worrying.
We got back to the hostel at 6pm and I met a girl sitting outside the hostel. We walked into town together because I had to go to Woolworths for some hair scissors. I got back to the hostel, had a shower and Caitlin and I headed into town.
We had missed the last shuttle into town so we decided to walk it. We took some crazy pictures of each other on the way (keep in mind that we had three strongbows each whilst getting ready!) and bumped into a guy; Gavin from Canada, on the way, We told him where we were going and asked him if he wanted to come with us. He met us at a pub in town by which time Caitlin and I had met three Australians from Melbourne; Nick, Sam and Simon. They are actually football players for an Australian Football team! We spent the whole evening together and we didnt spend a penny! It was brilliant! Im meeting up with them in Melbourne when I get there!
