Yes...im still alive.
My travels have officially kind of started again, if that makes any sense. Like the last blog, ive just been working and saving and the occasional night out. Still missing my mates and family and watching my beloved norwich city play at the weekends. Its strange since ive been out here, my love for norwich has grown considerably! Just finished talking to my mates from back home, and now realise i miss them lots too. Im itching to get back but at the same time im itching to see more and do more! Strange feeling.
...anyway, ive now finished work and a free man again. On friday the 13th, yes friday the 13th i went to cape tribulation for two days. Its the oldest rainforest in the world, about 100,000,000 years old i think, and its where the rainforest meets the reef! So one second your walking through the rainforest then your on a really nice beach on the gt barrier reef, its pretty cool!
It was a really nice weekend, nothing, very suprisingly went wrong! Normally mixing me with friday the 13th would end in disaster but thankfully it was all ok. Apart from being really hungover from the night before! Went out with dean, lucy and mel, two of them irish so it says it all. Went to bed about 3am, and had to get up at 6:30 so i was knackered! Once we started the journey though, it was ok, i slept on the bus for a bit, and got talking to these two dutch girls, who i ended up being with for the two days. Nearly all the girls there were dutch! Nysh!
Our first stop was a crocodile river tour!!! Woooooo! i hear you cry! well, yeah if i actually saw one then it would had been very cool, but going on a croc tour on a croc infested river, and not seeing 1 croc is very dissapointing!! But it was still relaxing. Pity about the rain though. It rained pretty much all day so that was quite unlucky i suppose, but the second day it was roasting, and we ended up getting burnt.
After the 'croc' tour, we went for a board walk around the rainforest, we were told about these birds which are huge, they are like emus but can rip your chest in two with there 3 huge claws! so i was worried as it being fri 13th and 'ME' we didnt see one though thank god.
Didnt really see much apart from rain and trees and plants and the sound of..well..the rain forest which is nice. After this we went to cape tribulation, where we checked into our hostel, which was in the middle of the rainforest, very worried about spiders etc but after hearing its too wet for them i was very very relieved! It was cosy put it that way. We walked straight to the beach, along that, then up to the look out point. No swimming allowed because the box jelly fish and 'crocs' which inhabit the area. So we walked for a while then headed back to the bar, and just chilled for the night. Was nice. We were in bed early, as i was still suffering and the girls had jet lag...poor excuse!
The next day, it was a much nicer day so we walked to other side of the beach where we found a coconut on the floor which had dropped from the tree, so we made it our mission to open it and drink the milk and eat it; which we did! :) it was really nice, us men did all the work while the girls sat back and watched! After the snack we sunbathed for a bit, walked back, had a swim in the 'fresh' pool, sunbathed some more, then left. We stopped at mossmon gorg for a swim then port douglas for a wonder. Nice town with a nice beach, town for the rich though. Which is not me.
Got home at about 7pm, had some food at the hostel, sneacked in for free!!! ha haha! Worked my last shift washing cars today so from here on until 1st dec its fun fun fun, and travel travel travel!!! YEAH!
Off to the great barrier reef for a scuba dive tomorrow morning so ill update you all once that is over, unless i get attacked by a shark, a snake, a sting ray, or another very dangerous animal or fish which live in the reef!! :( Oh yeah i forgot to mantion we stopped off at the area where steve irwin dove his last dive! r.i.p that was really cool to see too. Pics on facebook soon.
PEACE! X
