We left Arenal Volcano this morning and drove to the Las Pas Waterfalls and are staying at the "Peace Lodge". This place is amazing!! Today we went to the Arenal Volcano National Park and went for a hike to the closest view of the volcano safely allowed. The volcano erupted in 1992 and our path was over lava rocks from that eruption. That eruption had killed 80 people and destroyed the town of Tabacon. It rained quite hard overnight and continued to have a strong mist all day. We picked a couple of things that weren't weather dependent. We started with going to hike on the "hanging bridges. This morning we left the Cloud Forest with an elevation of 4700 ft and drove around Lake Arenal arriving in La Fortuna at Arenal Volcano with an elevation of 1400 feet. The change of Ecosystems is rapid and there are 11 in this small country. The roads have not been bad if you don't take a wrong turn. We started our day with an early morning tour to the Monteverde Cloud Forest. We spent about 4 hours walking through the forest with a guide who helped identify plants and the interesting Eco system of the cloud forest.
