We were traveling up the coast today and got as far as Byron Bay. We drove through lots of sugar cane fields. This is the most easterly point of Au. This is a very young crowd as this is surfers paradise. We think the average age is 22. The weather is rainy so if tomorrow is the same we will continue to drive north.

We really do feel like we have been "off exploring the past couple of days. We started our day yesterday at the Jenolan caves. They are further into the Blue Mountains and were absolutely spectacular. Supposedly the largest caves in AU. We took the "temple of Baal" tour and the largest cave was 150 feet high. Then we moved on further through the mountains. You can smell eucalyptus as you drive. Many varieties of eucalyptus trees hence the name of the mount...

We picked up the camper van yesterday and headed to the Blue Mountains. The van is quite nice and very comfortable. It does allow us to get off the beaten track. We are meeting lots of great people along the way from all over the world. Last night had "appies" with a couple from Switzerland. The campgrounds are really nice with excellent amenities. There are Cockatoos everywhere at the campgrounds. Very pretty with pink and yellow heads. They are quite chatty...

We started our day with a backstage tour of the Opera House. It was very interesting and fun to see the complex operation to put on a production. It literally has over a 1000 rooms. Sting was performing on the outdoor stage tonight but sold out. We took the ferry to Manly beach but was it was sooooo hot today that we stayed a short time as we are already a bit sunburned. Sydney is breaking records with high temps. Today was again close to 100 degrees. Rand...
