POB Practice. All will become clear.
Came back to Glenans last night - what a difference it being a weekend makes! Every Frenchman, his dog and grandmother has descended upon the islands 'pour le weekend'. For Marcus's benefit, we had another BBQ on board our boat (skewered lamb kebabs). For the uninitiated MOB stands for Man Over Board and sailors are supposed to practice Man Overboard recoveries. Well following lamb kebabs we had peaches in foil cooking happily on the BBQ, when Richard, with an expansive gesture, knocked one of them into the water. Mayday POB! My hero Roger leapt to his feet, into his dinghy and retrieved it in double quick time. I'd quite like to have "Peaches Roger" on my boat when I take a tumble overboard! It was the best peach too.
Tour of Penfret Island on foot today, dinner on board Magnetic Attraction tonight. We'll raft alongside her for dinner, then both boats will move round to the other side of Penfret later as the wind is due to change and we'll be more sheltered the other side.
We have decided that despite conditions not being ideal, we will head off across Biscay tomorrow. Both boats will probably start off together, but our courses will diverge during the day or first night. Viveiro, here we come. Not looking forward to this bit as I am not very good yet at these long non-stop hauls. Xx
